First Successful Ostrich Breeding In Jaipur Zoo

A newly hatched ostrich chick is at Jaipur Zoo in Rajasthan, India, on March 19, 2025. This marks Rajasthan's first-ever ostrich birth from eggs laid by Avantika, who mates with Mallikarjun. Under the expert care of senior veterinarian Dr. Ashok Kumar Tanwar and his team--Annu, Anjana, Lal Singh, and Bhim Singh--the chick is healthy and thriving. The remaining eggs are still under incubation, while both mother and chick receive specialized diet and medical attention. (Photo by Vishal Bhatnagar/NurPhoto)
