Jongmyo Welcomes Return Of Joseon Kings After 155 Years
A ceremonial procession reenacting the return of spirit tablets of Joseon-era monarchs departs from Changdeokgung Palace in Seoul, South Korea, on April 20, 2025. The tablets, temporarily housed at the palace, return to their original place at Jongmyo's main hall, which recently undergoes five years of major restoration. The Cultural Heritage Administration says the reopening ceremony marks the completion of the restoration and the return of the royal ancestral tablets. (Photo by Chris Jung/NurPhoto)
