"Madonna Che Scappa" Easter Celebration In Sulmona, Italy
People carrying the statue of Risen Christ are seen in Sulmona, Italy on April 20th, 2025. The traditional Easter procession is called ''Madonna che scappa'' (the running Madonna). As the participants run to the statue of the resurrected Christ, on the other side of the square, some doves are released and according to this centenary tradition the direction followed by the doves becomes a good or bad omen to local people for the harvest.
