A Holocaust Remembrance Day Protest Against The War In Gaza
On the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Israeli activists hold up photographs of Palestinians from Gaza who were killed during the war, in a quiet protest near Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial museum in Jerusalem, Israel, on april 24, 2025. This act defies police district commanders' instructions prohibiting such displays. Although there is no official law banning the display of images of Palestinian children killed in Gaza, and despite internal police guidelines and the position of the police's own legal adviser opposing such prohibitions, officers continue to act against these displays. Police prevent protesters from carrying signs deemed ''inflammatory,'' and in some cases, confiscate them. Just last week, officers reportedly assault demonstrators who hold similar signs during protests in Haifa and Jerusalem. (Photo by Yahel Gazit/NurPhoto)
