Nepal Expedites Expansion Of Araniko Highway That Joins Kathmandu With China
Elderly people cross the road in Banepa as dust covers the atmosphere while the upgrade of Araniko Highway in the Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel section progresses in Kavrepalanchowk District of Nepal on May 22, 2025. The 16-kilometer stretch of Araniko Highway, which connects Kathmandu with the Chinese border, is being upgraded to Asian standards. Work is currently underway in the Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel section where the two-lane road is being upgraded to a six-lane expressway. It has four motorable tracks and two service tracks on either side. (Photo by Subaas Shrestha/NurPhoto)
