Villagers Mark 10 Years After The Sidoarjo MudFlow

General view of Lapindo mudflow destruction during the tenth anniversary of the Lapindo mudflow eruption on May 30, 2016 in Sidoarjo, East Java, Indonesia. Lapindo mudflow eruption is suspected to have been triggered by the drilling activities carried out by Indonesian oil and gas company Lapindo Brantas Inc, which belonged to Aburizal Bakrie. The disaster killed 14 people and displaced 40,000 others, with damages reaching $2.7 billion. In the reign of Indonesia President Joko Widodo, most Lapindo victims already received the compensation. They warn the government to reject the new drilling plan of Lapindo Brantas Inc near this area during the tenth anniversary of the mudflow eruption. (Photo by Robertus Pudyanto/NurPhoto)
