A man and a woman at a homeless encampment are approached by a suspect inside a vehicle who shoots them in the 3000 block of W. Chicago Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, United States, on May 25, 2025. On Sunday morning at approximately 3:20 AM, a 59-year-old man and a woman are approached by an unknown suspect inside a black SUV who fires multiple gunshots in the victims' direction. The 59-year-old man sustains a gunshot wound to his right leg and is transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition. The woman sustains a gunshot wound to her left shoulder and is transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. The suspect flees in the SUV eastbound on Chicago Ave. There is no suspect in custody. Chicago police investigate the double shooting as the sun rises above the Chicago skyline.
