Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi To Visit Jammu And Kashmir Tomorrow
A man walks past a billboard in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on June 5, 2025, advertising the scheduled inauguration in Katra of the first Vande Bharat train service from Katra to Srinagar by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Jammu tomorrow, where he inaugurates the first Vande Bharat train service from Katra to the Kashmir Valley. This train route passes through the world's highest Chenab Bridge before reaching Kashmir. It marks the first time in history that the region is directly connected to New Delhi by train. The new service significantly boosts tourism and trade in the area. This is also Prime Minister Modi's first visit to Jammu and Kashmir following Operation Sindoor, which is launched in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, that kills 26 tourists. The Indian Armed Forces launch ''Operation Sindoor'' on May 7, 2025, targeting alleged terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. A ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan is brokered by the United States and comes into effect on May 10. (Photo by Firdous Nazir/NurPhoto)
