A 16-year-old girl is shot and killed, and a 35-year-old man is injured in a shooting on the 1200 block of E. 83rd Street in Chicago, Illinois, United States, on July 4, 2025. On Friday evening at approximately 10:57 PM, police respond to Jackson Park Hospital for a call of two victims who sustain gunshot wounds. The victims are approached on foot by an unknown male suspect who displays a firearm and fires shots in the victims' direction. The 35-year-old man sustains a gunshot wound to the right thigh and is listed in good condition.
