Two People Were Killed When An Out-of-control Car With Stolen License Plates Vaulted Onto A Bustling Chinatown Sidewalk Saturday Morning At Canal Street And Bowery Street
Two people are killed when an out-of-control car with stolen license plates vaults onto a bustling Chinatown sidewalk in Manhattan, New York, United States, on July 19, 2025. The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet Impala involved in the 7:30 a.m. crash are taken into custody after they try to leave the area on foot. A witness to the crash points them out to arriving police officers as they make their escape. Both the driver and passenger are taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Witnesses tell police that the Impala has just gotten off the Manhattan Bridge when the driver loses control and careens onto the sidewalk, where it strikes a woman and a man riding a bicycle.
