Rally Against Trafficking In Persons In Indonesia

Activists from various organizations, including the Indonesian Migrant Workers Union (SBMI), Greenpeace Indonesia, and the Sumatera Environmental Initiative (SEI), stage a rally in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 1, 2025, to mark World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. Around 60 participants urge the government to take concrete action to prevent and address human trafficking. They also demand official recognition of migrant fishers as migrant workers and accountability for the government's failure to uphold legal obligations during the licensing transition for migrant fishing crew placement companies.
