4.9 Earthquake Struck West Java

Villagers take refuge in a neighbor's undamaged house in Jungkur village, Indonesia, on August 21, 2025, fearing aftershocks following a 4.9 magnitude earthquake that strikes Karawang Regency, West Java Province, about 28 KM from Jakarta, on Wednesday night, August 20, 2025. The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) records that the earthquake causes damage to 37 houses and four public facilities, such as a community health center, sub-district office, school, and place of worship, with 101 residents from 38 families affected.
