Laying Flowers At The Gate Of The Gdansk Shipyard In Gdansk
A member of the Solidarity trade union participates in a wreath-laying ceremony at the gate of the Gdansk Shipyard in Gdansk, Poland, on August 31, 2025. On August 31, 1980, the August Agreements are signed between the democratic opposition and the communist government. In that month, around 700,000 people take part in strikes, and the newly founded trade union Solidarity attracts 9-10 million members. To commemorate these events, an anniversary is held in the BHP Hall of the Gdansk Shipyard, and flowers are laid at the shipyard gate. (Photo by Klaudia Radecka/NurPhoto)
