Nepal's Longest Running Chariot Festival Draws To End Following Political Unrest
People gather to watch a ritual performed on the final day of the Indra Jatra in Basantapur, Nepal, on September 11, 2025. The chariot procession, halted since Monday due to curfew and political unrest, cannot be completed this year. Instead, the festival ends after Kumari, Ganesh, and Bhairav are ritually worshipped, followed by the ceremonial toppling of the ceremonial pole (lingo). (Photo by Subaas Shrestha/NurPhoto)
