Special school for hearing and visually impaired in Oshakati
A teacher Josephina Hangula has a lesson with the orientation group for hearing impaired children at Eluwa Special School in Ongwediva, Namibia on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. To explain words for pupils she performs it with objects she can find around. Orientation class – is the first year for children in the school. Pupils of 4 and 5 years old are studying in the group. When they come to school they can’t communicate with others. ‘During Orientation year, they learn their own names, names of their parents. We show them all the things from kitchen and hostel in sign language, so they can use it to feel more comfortable with other children and adults’, says Ms. Hangula.
