Rio state declares financial emergency

On 17 June 2016 Rio de Janeiro State has declared financial emergency less than 50 days before the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The interim Governor, Francisco Dornelles, says the serious economic crisis threatens to stop the state from honouring commitments for the Games.
