Birds Around Kathmandu
A young owl peeps from the leaves of trees in Sankhu, Kathmandu, Nepal, on October 3, 2025. Nepal is home to a total of 21 species of owls, and four species among them are categorized as endangered. However, none of the owl species found in Nepal are prioritized in the IUCN Red List 2015. Some species of owls are traded for as much as Rs 300,000 and beyond.
