Ada Colau, Former Mayor Of Barcelona, Arrives To Barcelona After Relase From Israel
Ada Colau, former mayor of Barcelona, and Jordi Coronas, city councillor for ERC, arrive at Barcelona Airport after being repatriated from Israel. The two Catalan politicians are part of the ''Global Sumud'' flotilla, a mission with over 40 vessels and around 450 international activists aiming to break the blockade of Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid. The Israeli army intercepts the convoy and detains nearly 500 people, including about fifty Spanish citizens. Colau and Coronas, initially held at Saharonim prison in the Negev Desert, are released after signing an expedited deportation agreed upon between Spain and Israel. In contrast, Pilar Castillejo, CUP deputy, remains imprisoned in Israel, along with other activists awaiting repatriation.
