The Maria Zambrano (B-22), Maritime Rescue Vessel Operating In Spain
On October 13, in Cadiz Port, Spain, the maritime rescue vessel Maria Zambrano (B-22) is part of the Spanish Society of Salvage and Maritime Safety. It is used for tasks like towing damaged ships and emergency response. The vessel is ready to work in the rescue of migrants from the Gibraltar Strait to Huelva, assisting other ferries. At times, Maria Zambrano is used as a shelter for immigrants in Cadiz and Algeciras. In the first five months of 2025, around 1,865 migrants die during the crossing in the Gibraltar Strait trying to come to Spain. (Photo by Lucas Neves/NurPhoto)
