Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki Offers Argha During Chhath Festival In Kathmandu, Nepal
Interim Prime Minister of Nepal, Sushila Karki, offers argha (ritual offering) to the Sun God during the Chhath Parva festival at Kamalpokhari in Kathmandu, Nepal, on October 27, 2025. Karki, the first woman to serve as Prime Minister of the country, is appointed as the interim leader following the Gen Z anti-corruption protests. Chhath is an ancient Indo-Nepalese Hindu festival, native to eastern India and southern Nepal. It is celebrated especially in the Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh, as well as in Nepal's Koshi, Gandaki, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Madhesh provinces, where devotees offer prayers to the Sun God for prosperity and well-being.
