The Monastery Of Notre Dame Of Tibhirine
Part of the Notre-Dame de Tibhirine monastery is near Medea, Algeria, on November 24, 2025. On the night of March 26-27, 1996, seven Trappist monks are kidnapped, held captive, and killed during the Algerian Civil War. Their assassination is announced on May 21, 1996, in a communique attributed to the GIA (Armed Islamic Group).
