Tunisian Graduates Rally Nationwide Over Unemployment
A woman demonstrator holds a sign reading in Arabic ''Organize yourselves, resist'' while making the victory sign during a demonstration organized by unemployed holders of higher education degrees from the movement ''University Graduates Whose Unemployment Has Lasted Too Long'' in Tunis, Tunisia, on November 26, 2025. The rally is part of a nationwide protest calling for status regularization and integration into the public sector or public institutions, with participants demanding direct recruitment without an entrance exam. The 2026 draft finance law provides for the creation of around 23,000 new positions in the public sector. According to the latest estimates from the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Tunisia's unemployment rate stands at 15.3% in the second quarter of 2025. The unemployment among holders of higher education degrees reaches around 24% over the same period. (Photo by Chedly Ben Ibrahim/NurPhoto)
