Mission Espada (Mision San Francisco de la Espada) is established in 1690 as San Francisco de los Tejas near present-day Augusta, Texas, USA, and is renamed San Francisco de los Neches in 1721. The mission moves in 1731 to San Antonio and receives its current name. It is listed on the National Register on February 23, 1972. Through a partnership between the US National Park Service and the Archdiocese of San Antonio, Texas, USA, Sunday church services (in both English and Spanish) are still conducted there.
