Eviction Drive In Assam
The District Administration launches a major eviction drive in Dhing Revenue Circle to demolish 565 illegal fisheries and restore natural waterways in Nagaon District of Assam on December 16, 2025. During this period, the administration plans to demolish 565 illegally constructed fisheries (ponds) that are created by building bunds and blockages on natural waterways and beels (wetlands). These encroachments severely disrupt the natural flow of water across areas including Bherbheri Beel, Roumari Beel, Magurmari Beel, and others, leading to flooding, damage to villages, roads, and agricultural land.
