Naples, The Blood Of Saint Januarius Has Liquefied
The miracle of the liquefaction of St. Januarius' blood is renewed, announced at 9:13 a.m. by Abbot Vincenzo De Gregorio in the Chapel of the Treasure. The miracle on December 16 is the third of the year and recalls the event of 1631, when the saint is said to protect the city from the eruption of Vesuvius. Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy attends the ceremony. (Photo by Paolo Manzo/NurPhoto)
