Nepal's Fraud Indicted Former Home Minister Rabi Lamicchane Gets Heroic Welcome At Party Office After Being Released On Bail
Cadres of the Rastriya Swatantra Party hold flags displaying the party's election symbol as they stand in queue to welcome Rabi Lamichhane, former Nepali Home Minister indicted in cooperative fraud, following his announcement to visit the party office on December 21, 2025. Lamichhane, also the President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is released on bail on December 19, 2025. The Butwal bench of Tulsipur High Court issues an order for Lamichhane's release on bail. As per the court order, Lamichhane, who is in Nakkhu jail, Lalitpur, reaches Bhairahawa district in person and completes every procedure for the release. Earlier, the District Court, Rupandehi, denies his release on bail despite submitting the bank deposit, which prompts Lamichhane to approach the High Court. Information Officer at District Court, Padam Aryal, informs that Lamichhane deposits NRs 37.4 million as bail. Lamichhane faces the case of misappropriation of cooperative funds.
