Kurdish nationals demonstrate in Warsaw, Poland on 18 January, 2026, protesting the Syrian military's takeover of Kurdish-held territory in northeastern Syria. Syrian government forces, aided by tribal militias, seized control of wide swathes of land including the city of Raqqa and key oil fields over the weekend, forcing the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces to retreat.
