81st Anniversary Of The Liberation Of Auschwitz In Oswiecim
The site of the Auschwitz I camp is observed during the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp in Oswiecim, Poland, on January 27, 2026. Auschwitz is a German Nazi concentration and extermination camp and remains the most recognizable symbol of the Holocaust. Jews from across Europe, along with Poles, Roma, Sinti, and Soviet prisoners of war, are murdered there. On January 27, 1945, the Red Army enters the camp, liberating its prisoners. Twenty-one survivors participate in the commemoration. (Photo by Klaudia Radecka/NurPhoto)
