Sprinkling Sacred Water And Lighting Lamps On Body, Nepali Devotees Mark Month Long Madhav Narayan Fast In Nepal
Nepali Hindu devotees undergo the annual Madhav Narayan fast and take part in the procession to tour around the town of Thecho in Lalitpur, Nepal, on January 30, 2026. During the procession, which is also part of the month-long Madhav Narayan festival, devotees tour around the city blowing conches and sprinkling sacred water on the bystanding devotees. The annual Madhav Narayan festival begins from the full moon of Poush, the ninth month in the Nepali calendar. The devotees remain on fast for the entire month and abide by strict disciplinary rules and regulations. The devotees roll on the ground as part of the ritual. (Photo by Subaas Shrestha/NurPhoto)
