Mawlid Of Abdel Rahim Al-Qenawi

Thousands of people from Qena and neighboring governorates gather in Qena, Egypt, on February 2, 2026, to celebrate the Mawlid of Sidi Abdel Rahim, one of the largest religious festivals in Egypt. Followers of Sufi orders observe the event starting from the month of Sha'ban, with the grand finale taking place on the night of Mid-Sha'ban. The celebrations feature stick fighting (Tahteeb), traditional folk music (Mizmar Baladi), horse races (Mirmah), recreational games, as well as religious chanting, praise poetry, and supplications.
