2025 South Korea Wildfire, After 1 Year
On February 10, 2026, in Uiseong, South Korea, the temple ravaged by the wildfire stands unrepaired, still bearing the scars of that tragic blaze at Gounsa Temple in Uiseong, South Korea. On March 25, 2025, a wildfire ignites in Goesan-ri, Anpyeong-myeon, Uiseong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do. Burning for five days, it sweeps through four cities, devastating 994.9 square kilometers of forest and destroying 4,458 homes. The disaster results in 28 deaths and 32 injuries. Although a year passes since the fire is fully extinguished, the enormity of the affected area makes recovery progress slow. (Photo by Seung-il Ryu/NurPhoto)
