Chinese New Year- Lunar New Year Celebrated In Nepal
Artists take part in an event organized to mark the Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, organized by the Sino Embassy in Lalitpur, Nepal, on February 17, 2026. Along with Nepal, various Asian countries and others around the world grandly welcome the 'Fire Horse' year. This festival, celebrated with family reunions, prayers, and traditional feasting, begins with the first new moon of the lunar calendar. This 15-day long festival, which generally falls between January 21 and February 20, is considered the most significant festival of the year in countries like China, Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand. The tradition during the first two days of the New Year involves families and friends gathering to exchange gifts and distribute red envelopes filled with cash. (Photo by Subaas Shrestha/NurPhoto)
