Senior Women In Mexico Celebrate Golden Quinceañeras
An elderly woman in Mexico City, Mexico, on February 21, 2026, smiles as she receives a doll before dancing a waltz to celebrate her quinceanera, one of the most significant traditions for young women in Mexico and Latin America. It marks the symbolic transition from childhood to a new stage of maturity, surrounded by family and friends. This year's celebration is called a ''Golden Quinceanera,'' referring to the fact that these women, for one reason or another, had not previously had such a celebration. This year, they are able to celebrate thanks to the support of the Iztapalapa mayor's office and several boutiques that donate dresses for this special occasion. (Photo by Gerardo Vieyra/NurPhoto)
