Buddhists celebrate Asaha Bucha

Thai Buddhists celebrate Asaha Bucha day at Wat Yannawa in central Bangkok on 18 July 2016. Asaha Bucha is an important festivity in the Buddhist calendar which marks Buddha s first sermon to his disciples after enlightenment. It also signals the start of Buddhist Lent, a period during which all monks are not supposed to leave the grounds of their temple. Thai Buddhists celebrate the day at temples with a candlelight procession called Wian Tian. (Photo by Thomas De Cian/NurPhoto)
