Traditional healing in Dar Es Salaam

Athuman Midevu, traditional healer and magician of Luguru tribe from Morogoro region in Tanzania prepares himself for a ritual in Visiga Kwa Kipofu near Dar Es Salaam on Thursday, July 21, 2016. The healer treats his patient with the words of Koran he can read from his mind. He tells that spirits give him the right words for treatment. Athuman Midevu has gotten the power when he was 13 years old and suffered from a serious illness. Athuman predicted his father death and this prophecy came true, so people from his village initiated him as magician following customs of the tribe.
