Police Searching For 2 Men After US Park Police Officer Shot In Southeast DC

Metropolitan Police Department officers, K-9 units, and agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) work at the scene where a U.S. Park Police officer was shot in Southeast Washington, D.C., United States, on March 24, 2026. The officer was shot while inside an unmarked vehicle on the 5000 block of Queens Stroll Place SE, around 7:30 p.m. Monday, according to Park Police officials. U.S. Park Police were in the area investigating an earlier incident. Park Police state the officer was working undercover in a white Tesla when two suspects opened fire at his moving vehicle. The Metropolitan Police Department interim chief reports the Park Police officer was the only person in the car and drove himself about a half mile from Queens Stroll Place SE to Benning Road SE near its intersection with Southern Avenue. No suspects are in custody at this time. Police are searching for two individuals believed to be responsible for the shooting.
