Abundance Of Wild Spring Herbs In Sayid Sadiq Markets After Heavy Rains

Local residents visit markets in Sayid Sadiq, Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, on March 27, to purchase a variety of fresh wild spring herbs and edible plants. Following an exceptionally rainy season, the markets are filled with traditional greenery including Mallow (Tolaka), Mushrooms (Qachk), Wild Rhubarb (Baraza), Guzala, Hilakha, and Artichoke (Qingir). There is a high demand for these seasonal delicacies, which are anticipated each year for their unique flavors and traditional culinary importance in Kurdish culture.
