Birds Newly Hatched Great Egret Chick

Great egret chicks are seen in a nest at Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Delray Beach, Florida, on March 30, 2026. The hatchlings are born without feathers, but within weeks they begin to clamber from the nest. This species was once hunted nearly to extinction for their plumes and is now the symbol of the National Audubon Society. (Photo by Ronen Tivony/NurPhoto)
