Tunisia Protest In Solidarity With Detained Gaza Flotilla Organisers

Demonstrators also express opposition to Israel's newly proposed death penalty law, which would allow for the execution of Palestinians tried in military courts. Several members of the Tunisian coordination of the Global Sumud Flotilla's first mission have been arrested, including Wael Naouar, his wife Jawaher Channa, Nabil Chennoufi, Dr. Mohamed Amine Bennour, and Sana M'hidli. On March 16, a Tunisian judge ordered their pre-trial detention, citing suspicions of money laundering under anti-terrorism legislation, as well as fraud and the alleged misuse of donated funds. The case is linked to a fundraising campaign conducted during the Global Sumud Flotilla in September 2025.
