Protesters Hold Anti-ICE Vigil Outside Courthouse In Lower Manhattan
Protesters from Rise and Resist and their supporters hold a weekly vigil outside the Jacob K. Javitz Federal Building at 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan, New York, on April 9, 2026. The building houses an immigration court and detention facilities and has been a site of numerous arrests and detentions over the past year. In a new court filing in late March 2026, the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York stated that the government had falsely claimed since 2025 that new ICE Guidance permitted such arrests at immigration courts. However, the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement that such arrests will continue. (Photo by Melissa Bender/NurPhoto)
