Choked Canal In Dhaka

An aerial and ground view shows the Shuvaddya canal in Dakshin Keraniganj, Dhaka, Bangladesh, almost entirely filled with layers of plastic and household waste on April 11, 2026. Waste from nearby sweatshops and kitchen markets has turned the canal into an open dumping ground, severely disrupting natural drainage. Residents walk along its edges and cross makeshift bridges over the polluted waterway, illustrating the environmental challenges in one of Dhaka's densely populated areas.
