Sindoor Jatra Festival In Nepal

Nepali Hindu revelers participate in a ritualistic celebratory parade during the annual Sindoor Jatra festival in Thimi, Nepal, on April 15, 2026. The festival paints the town with Sindoor and is observed on the 2nd of Baisakh, the first month of the year according to the Lunar calendar. Nepal enters the new year 2083 on Wednesday. A total of 32 ceremonial palanquins are brought to the temple square by devotees covered in Sindoor, accompanied by singing and dancing troupes. (Photo by Subaas Shrestha/NurPhoto)
