Deadly shooting in Kyiv
Law enforcers and paramedics work at the scene of a shooting in the Holosiivskyi district, Kyiv, Ukraine, on April 18, 2026. On the afternoon of April 18, an individual opened fire on civilians in the Holosiivskyi district and took hostages inside a store. Negotiators attempted contact before KORD officers entered the premises and apprehended the individual. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the suspect was a 58-year-old Moscow-born man. The Interior Ministry reported that he possessed a legally registered carbine and shot four people on the street before a fifth hostage was killed inside the supermarket.
