Nepal’s Oldest Party- Nepali Congress Picks Bhismaraj Angdembe As Parliamentary Party Leader After Prolonged Delay
Gagan Kumar Thapa (second from left), President of the Nepali Congress, hands over the certificate of appointment to newly elected parliamentary party leader Bhismaraj Angdembe (third from right) during the parliamentary party meeting in Kathmandu, Nepal, on March 27, 2026. The meeting, following weeks of internal deliberations, decided to appoint Angdembe as its parliamentary party leader. The parliamentary party unanimously endorsed Angdembe for the post, nearly two months after the completion of the elections. Angdembe is a lawmaker elected under the proportional representation system. Party leaders state that the appointments aim to streamline parliamentary coordination and strengthen the internal leadership structure following the delay in forming the parliamentary party leadership.
