Buddha Purnima Festival Celebrated In Nepal

Nepalese devotees offer ritual prayers at the premises of Chiloncho Stupa during the celebration of the Buddha Purnima festival, the birth anniversary of Lord Gautam Buddha, in Chiloncho, Kirtipur, Kathmandu, on May 1, 2026. Buddhists around the world, including in Nepal, observe Buddha Jayanti, which falls on the full moon day of the Nepali month of Baisakh. The 2,558th Buddha Jayanti is celebrated at Chiloncho Stupa, Kirtipur, with various programs promoting peace and harmony. Dipankar Buddhas are displayed, worshiped, and taken throughout Kirtipur.
