Turtle Sunbathing

A turtle basks in the sunlight in a pond at the University of Dhaka in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on May 3, 2026. This species, known as the red-eared slider, prefers slow-moving freshwater habitats. It is considered one of the world's most invasive species, competing with native turtles for food and habitat, which can disrupt ecological balance. Originally native to North America, it has spread to many countries across Asia, including India and Bangladesh, as well as Europe and Africa, due to its popularity as a pet.
