Anti-Drug Rally Held In Kashmir, India

People walk past a billboard that reads ''DON'T LET DRUGS CONTROL YOU, DRUGS KILL DREAMS, CHOOSE LIFE'' during an anti-drug rally in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on May 03, 2026. The rally is led by Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, as part of the 100-day ''Nasha Mukt (Drug-Free) Jammu and Kashmir'' campaign, which aims to make the Union Territory drug-free within three months. The event is organized to raise awareness about drug abuse and to encourage collective action against substance addiction in Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir is facing a drug abuse crisis, with official estimates suggesting that more than 1.35 million people across the Union Territory are affected by substance dependence. Heroin is the most commonly abused drug, accounting for nearly 90-95% of addiction cases. (Photo by Firdous Nazir/NurPhoto)
