Tunis Court Reviews Suspension Of Tunisian League For Human Rights Activities
Demonstrators make the victory sign while shouting slogans during a solidarity rally outside the Court of First Instance in Tunis, Tunisia, on May 6, 2026. The rally brings together dozens of human rights organizations, civil society groups, and opposition parties to protest the judiciary's decision to suspend the activities of the Tunisian League for Human Rights (LTDH) as the court reviews the measure. The LTDH's activities were suspended for one month by the Tunisian judiciary on April 24, with authorities stating that the organization exceeded the legal deadline for holding its ordinary general assembly. Founded in 1976, the Tunisian League for Human Rights (LTDH) is one of the oldest human rights organizations in the Arab world and a recipient of the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize.
