Tiny Grass Blue Butterflies (Zizula Hylax) Mating Pair

Tiny Grass Blue butterflies (Zizula hylax) are observed mating with abdomen-to-abdomen, typically resting on vegetation in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on April 4, 2026. These butterflies are among the smallest in the world, with a wingspan of 16 to 24 mm. The upperside of the male butterfly is a dull violet-blue, while the underside is a pale greyish-white adorned with small black spots. They are weak fliers and are often found in moist, sunny grasslands or near forests. In warmer climates, they are known to be active throughout the entire year. (Photo by Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto)
