Sanctuary Of Saint Leopold Mandic And Pilgrimage Site In Padua, Italy
A wooden kneeler and an upholstered chair are seen inside the preserved confession room of Saint Leopold Mandic at his sanctuary in Padua, Italy, on May 15, 2026. This interior space survived an Allied bombing raid on May 14, 1944, which destroyed most of the surrounding church structure. The room contains a portrait painting of the Capuchin saint, a crucifix on the plaster wall, and a wooden stand holding an open visitor registry book with artificial flowers arranged on the lower shelves. The space remains preserved for visiting pilgrims. (Photo by Matteo Della Torre/NurPhoto)
